Dear Parent/Carer,
A warm welcome to what has been a very chilly start to Term 3. It is hard to believe that we are over half way through the year and planning is well and truly underway for 2023 and beyond.
This term, our current Year 9 students and their parents will be working through their Pathway Preparation Plan (PPP) which build upon a number of conversations we have had with students over the past term as they select subjects and map their future for the senior years of schooling.
At the same time, our current Year 10 students are reviewing their PPP plans from last year and selecting their Year 11 and 12 subjects that will support their goals for when they graduate in 2024. These conversations, our Career Expo and parent/student information sessions are a valuable way for students and parents to know the many options and opportunities available to our young people as they progress through their secondary schooling. I would strongly encourage parents to speak to their child about these initiatives and contact the Head of Department Senior Schooling, Mr Todd Robson, if you require any further information.
As always, our goal is to help students not only achieve to the best of their ability but find value and purpose in life both in and after school. Your partnership with us in this process ensures that your child has the best information to make informed decisions regarding their future and I thank you for your ongoing support in this process.
As we move into the busyness of Term 3, it is easy for students to feel overwhelmed and uncertain, especially as they come to select subjects and pick future pathways. This is normal and I would encourage any students or parents that need further information or support to contact the school as soon as possible.
Once again, I thank you for your partnership with us in your child's education and look forward to working with you in the future.
Yours Sincerely,
Emily Prenzler
The beginning of a new Semester offers us all a chance to reflect on our accomplishments thus far and consider the challenges ahead. For our students this has involved setting SMART goals as part of their PBL lessons and considering aspirational targets for various aspects of their lives. The other core focus of PBL this term will revolve around building resilience in order to help students to achieve these goals.
In other news we welcome the opening of our GP Clinic which will be available to all students on Fridays in our Community Hub. Details around how to book appointments can be found on our school website, or by speaking to our Administrative Officer in the SSS Hub.

Careers Expo
On Wednesday 13th July the RVSSC students had the opportunity to engage in the Career Expo held on campus. This day provided student with an opportunity to engage with a range of industry stakeholders through interactive activities and conversations.
SET plans (year 10 students and parents)
Our Year 10 students are currently preparing for their SET planning which is a process designed to guide your child on a successful pathway throughout senior secondary and beyond Year 12 into post-school education and work. The aim of SET planning is to provide your child with the skills and knowledge needed to develop a genuine career pathway, and a life of personal choice.
SET planning involves the parent/carer, your child and the school working together to develop a plan for achieving success throughout Years 11 and 12 and beyond. You can support your child during the SET planning process by encouraging them to talk to family, friends and their teachers about potential occupations, career pathways, and education and training goals after Year 12.
Part of this process will involve a Parent/Carer Information Evening on Thursday 4th August and individual interviews between students, parent/carers and a member of the school leadership team on Wednesday 10th August. Please look out for communication regarding these events.
Todd Robson
Head of Department - Senior Schooling - Technology
Just a reminder that it is a requirement that all students come to school each morning with a fully charged laptop. They are also required to carry their laptops in their laptop cases, and not have their laptop loose in their school bag. The cases will help minimise any laptop damage. Please ensure your child's laptop has a RVSSC sticker on it. These also help prevent damage. Any student that has taken this sticker off will have it replaced and an invoice will be sent to you for $10.
eSport Update
Congratulations to Nathan Hill, Peter Martin, Liam McIntosh and Ezekiel Prasad for qualifying for the Queensland State Finals for Rocket League. These students will now be playing their finals live at the Ekka on the 6th and 7th of August. Exciting to see such success in the early years of the eSports program and a huge thank you to Mr Simmons for supporting these students.

Welcome back to Term 3!
This term will see our school participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) which is done throughout Australia, every year. The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school regarding support provided to students with disabilities. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- Year of schooling
- Category of disability - Physical, Cognitive, Sensory or Social/Emotional
- Level of adjustment provided: support provided with quality differentiated teaching practice - supplementary, substantial or extensive
This information assists schools to:
- Formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- Consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- Develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability
The NCCD provides state and federal government's with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability. The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified - the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information.
To find out more information, please refer to the Australian Government's Privacy Policy - https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal - https://www.nccd.edu.au

Welcome back to Term 3!
This term English classes across the college are deep diving into text studies. Our Year 7’s are working with poetry, while our Year 8 and 9 students are studying a novel.
In term 3, students from all year levels have the opportunity to participate in the Write in a Book in a Day competition. Write a Book in a Day is an inclusive, creative competition with a difference!
Teams of up to ten have just 12 hours to write and illustrate a book that will be uploaded to an online library for children in hospitals around Australia. So far, we have five teams who have nominated.
If anyone would like to join, we still have a few more spots available - please email Miss Champs (tcham77@eq.edu.au) for more information. We are also seeking sponsors for our five teams, allowing them to enter their published books into the competition. If any businesses or individuals are interested in sponsoring our Write a Book in a Day teams, please email Miss Champs (tcham77@eq.edu.au) for more information.
With our Year 9 and 10 students starting to think very carefully about their subjects and future pathways, it is a timely reminder to consider the benefits of Senior Humanities subjects. The suite of Senior Humanities subjects compliment studies at university by explicitly teaching academic research, referencing and writing skills. If your child is considering further study, we very much encourage students to choose a Senior Humanities subject.
On Monday 11th July seven of our Maths teachers participated in a exclusive professional development workshop at the University of Queensland (UQ).
This workshop is the start of a ongoing 3 year research project funded by the Commonwealth Government to improve students understanding, engagement and accessibility with Maths. This program is being lead by educational researchers from UQ and will involve a number of professional development workshops, collaborative planning sessions with the UQ team and many classroom observations and feedback sessions. The teaching team hope to further develop their skills to better support all learners in our classrooms.
As one of five high schools selected in Queensland, and as the only state high school, we are proud to have been selected to participate in this prestigious project that will contribute to the research and teaching of Maths principles and skills at a national level.
Well done team and we look forward to sharing our journey with you over the coming months and years.
In other news, we are so excited to be welcoming two new teachers to our faculty this term. Miss Kara Hanson is teaching Maths, Science and HPE and Mr Nathan Meredith joins us as a Maths and Science teacher. We are so excited to welcome these teachers to our team.
Students are being invited to nominate themselves to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This competition is a 2 hour paper based, exam style challenge that will challenge their critical thinking skills against general numeracy components. If your child wishes to be involved, they need to register their interest by seeing Mrs Reeves at the College before Wednesday 20th July, Week 2 of the term.
Tess Reeves
HoD Mathematics
Welcome back to Term 3 to all our RVSSC community members. I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing break and time was spent with loved ones. This term we welcome two new teachers to the Science team, Nathan Meredith, who will be taking Year 7 and 10 Science classes, and Kara Hansen, who will be taking a Year 7 Science class.
As we return to the classroom in Term 3, it is important for students to review the goals they set in Semester 1. It is important that as students review and set new goals that they look at the strategies they put in place to help them achieve these goals. As always, students will be supported by our amazing staff to reach their potential and encourage them with their goals throughout the term.
This term our students will continue to connect the learning that occurs within the science classroom to their lives outside of school and we encourage them to be critical and creative thinkers by utilising the inquiry skills they learn. In week 6 (15th-19th August), our school will be celebrating National Science Week with activities throughout the week. More details will be posted on our school social media as we get closer to the week.
Our Year 7 students delve into Physics, developing an understanding of balanced and unbalanced forces, and predicting conclusions about changes in motion. Students will construct, test, and modify a balloon-powered vehicle, and analyse the forces acting on the vehicle.
Year 8 classes build upon their pre-existing knowledge of Physics to understand how energy is either transferred or transformed, creating a Rube Goldberg machine for their assessment. The
Year 9 students investigate the structure of atoms, and how they change in chemical reactions by endothermic or exothermic reactions. Students will design and conduct an experiment to identify the suitable amount of salt to create the best cold pack.
The Year 10 students continue on their varied pathways with both the Biology/Psychology class and Physics/Chemistry classes beginning their semester units, while the core science classes finish off investigating how changing temperature, concentration, and surface area effects the rate of reaction. The foundation class has started their new unit this term to look at plant and animal cells at a molecular level, and how genetic material is transferred from parent to offspring during cell division.
We look forward to another exciting term and wish all our students the best as they get back in to the learning routines within all their classes.
Tim Barclay
Acting Head of Department - Science
Welcome back to Term 3!
We have approached the halfway point of the 2022 schooling year and what a run it has already been. We have onboarded another HPE staff member Miss Kara Hansen. She is a graduate from USQ and we are lucky to have her as a part of our team.
A reminder there is still sporting opportunities through Yagera Interschool Sport and Central Comets District Sport trials available. Mr. Justin Clifford is the best person to contact regarding Sport at the College – please contact him on jclif117@eq.edu.au for any sporting questions.
HPE Specific Equipment:
When HPE lessons are conducted on the oval, students ARE required to wear a hat, as per RVSSC’s sun safety policy; this is a part of the student uniform and all students should have a hat available. Students are allowed to bring their sport shoes to wear ONLY during HPE lessons. Students will need to change into these shoes at the beginning of the lesson and change into their regular black school shoes at the conclusion. We encourage all our students to also bring a water bottle to remain hydrated throughout the day and most importantly during the hot Ipswich climate.
All Term 3 Assessment:
During HPE in Term 3, all year levels will be assessed for both a theoretical and practical component throughout the term (minus Health). We are conscious that a lot of our students are either practically or theoretically talented, and in some cases, a combination of both. Therefore, in saying this we are making sure we are providing an opportunity to demonstrate these skills to be successful. All assessment information will be available via Daymap and will be available to students starting Friday 22nd July. We understand that COVID does have a big hold in our lives currently and if your student is away during a regular timetabled class, please make sure that you contact Student Services so this can become an approved attendance. If your student is absent during a timetabled assessment lesson, please follow the extension request that can be found in the student diary.
Benefits of Physically Activity:
As HPE Teachers we often talk about the importance of being Physically Active. Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Everyone can experience the health benefits of physical activity – age, abilities, ethnicity, shape, or size do not matter. During this pandemic it is extremely important to continually engage in physical activity and we encourage our College community to continue doing so. Below is some benefits of physical activity:

ART
Year 8 Art students will be having endless fun experimenting with ephemeral art this term. In order to play with line, form, shape and pattern found in natural objects, we've been busy collecting leaves, seeds, seedpods, sticks, stackablee stones and feathers.
If you have any interesting natural items in your backyard for our collection, we'd love to have them! Not only are we collecting leaves, seeds, seedpods, sticks, stackablee stones and feathers, we are also collecting bottle caps, ring pulls and any multiples of flat, coloured plastic items for a special 'end of unit' project in week 10. We have a special box in administration for donation drop offs.

Welcome to Performing Arts!
Semester 2, 2022 sees the subjects Dance, Drama and Music break away from Creative Industries to become their own faculty. I am delighted to share what we have in store as our department grows. Our team is currently made up of the following teachers:
Dale Ezzy - Music Coordinator, Classroom Music & Instrumental Music
Jason Coles - Music and Drama
Jocelyn McLeod - Drama
Tina Dixon - Dance and Drama
Damika Doorley - Dance and Drama
I have the pleasure of leading this team as I step into the Head of Department of Performing Arts role. My main teaching area is Dance but I have a passion for all of the performing arts subjects including productions across the 3 subjects.
We will still be working closely with the Creative Industries team for upcoming projects later in the year such as our annual Showcase event.
Whats been happening in the Performing Arts? As a new semester rolls over we have all taken on new Junior classes across Years 7 -9. We have been spending our first week back getting to know our classes and providing overviews of the Semester ahead. Our 3 key values in the Arts are collaboration, creativity and excellence. While we see new students coming into our subjects, we understand that some of them may feel out of their comfort zone however we encourage everyone to give the Performing Arts a go. We work together to create safe and supportive learning environments where every student can achieve success.
Dance
Our Year 7 Dance students are starting the Semester with Popular Dance. This term students will have the opportunity to learn a Popular Dance performance plus also work towards their theory responding task. In Dance practical lessons make up two thirds of the time and our theory component makes up the other third.
Our new Year 9 elective Dance class are being introduced to musical theatre. This is the first time we have run this genre in curriculum classes at RVSSC and we are so excited to see the students perform their routine from Hairspray!
Year 10 Dance students study our subject across both Semesters so that means they are jumping straight into their second unit of work. Students will be studying Contemporary Dance with the theme of "social issues". Students will explore how to communicate meaning through contemporary dance. They will get to choose a social issue and create a routine based around their chosen social issue. They will also be learning their performance task which looks at the impact of mobile phones on society.
Drama
Year 8 Drama Students undertake a study of the Elements of Drama. They will then apply this knowledge as they engage in an exploration of Indigenous forms of theatre and story- telling. They will then read the play text “Honey Spot” with a view to select a scene to perform, demonstrating students ability to select appropriate elements of drama along with physical and vocal skills to communicate Dramatic Meaning. Students will select and use the elements of drama, narrative and structure in selecting a scene from the play to develop a Directors Concept with a vision to engage an audience.
Year 9 Drama students will examine traditional folk stories and fairy tales from a range of cultures, including from First Nations people. Students will learn how to employ Physical Theatre conventions such as ensemble skills, juxtaposition, stylised gesture and visual metaphors to create their own fractured fairy tale. Post performance, students will reflect on their work, analysing and evaluating their manipulation of Elements of Drama and Physical Theatre conventions to create engaging dramatic action.
Year 10 Drama students will be studying "Making, shaping and empowering change." This unit focuses on exposing students to the style of Epic Theatre through engaging in the elements of drama and exploration of alienation techniques to examine and challenge social or political issues in order to educate or empower an audience. Students develop skills in play-building through collaborating, developing, devising and creating original dramatic works in response to contexts and stimuli, e.g. current or past social/political issues.
Music
Year 7 Music are learning about the elements of music and how it informs the construction of popular music. This is used as the basis of all assessment identifying preferences in music and justifying points of view from evidence based practices. It has been fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm (and singing!) from the new Year 7 classes in only the first week.
This week the Year 9 Music students have been showing Mr Coles what they can do on their chosen instrument and now will examine how music is visually communicated and organised through scores. Week 6 will see our Year 9's begin working on their individual instruments and how technology can be used to assist and enhance modern performances. Their practical studies will conclude with an afternoon concert in which students are encouraged to perform for family and friends. High achieving students have the option to perform at the end of year showcase.
Grade 10 Music have begun their new unit of Program Music and how it has developed from 1500AD to modern screen media. Students will present a presentation on modern use of Diegetic and Nondiegetic score in Week 5 before working towards their performance evening Week 2 of Term 4.
Instrumental Music
Instrumental music students have been excelling on all fronts this year with all ensembles polishing their first set of songs ready for performances in Semester 2. To continue this progress, it is essential students attend and are prepared for as many rehearsals and lessons as possible. Typically, ensembles only have 10 rehearsals per term and if only 2 are missed that’s 20% of the preparation time!
Extra-Curricular Dance
Dance Squad
Our Dance Squad competed at the Ipswich Eisteddfod in Week 9 of Term 2. Whilst they did not place we are very proud of their hard work and professionalism and their first ever competition. We look forward to them competing again at the end of this term at the Lockyer District Dancing Festival with routines in Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre.
Dance Troupe
Our Dance Troupe has been working with Mrs Dixon this term and they have finished their Jazz routine which they are looking forward to performing at Showcase. This Term they are starting their Contemporary routine. Some students will be joining our Squad team on Thursday afternoons to learn a combined Hip Hop routine.
Cheer
I am so excited to announce that our RVSSC Cheer team will be up and running again this Semester. Our resident Cheer expert Miss Tommii Keating will be coaching the team. Tommii has experience with the QUT cheer team and she is looking forward to teaching the team a Pom routine. Trials for this team were opened up to Squad and Troupe students and will be take place in Week 1.
Creative Generation
We are very excited to be taking part in Creative Generation State Schools On Stage this year! Creative Generation is an on stage spectacular that showcases the performing arts; Dance, Drama and Music. For our first year of participation in this event we have had 5 students successfully get through to the mass dance section. Our C-Gen team have been working tirelessly across most weekends this term attending rehearsals to get ready for the show which is Week 1 of this term. We wish all of our performers the best of luck and look forward to seeing our participation in C-Gen grow next year.
I thank you for your on-going support and look forward to sharing with you over the coming months what our Department has to offer.
Jessica Starkey
HOD - Performing Arts
On Thursday 9th June 2022, our Year 7 and Year 8 Japanese students met digitally with our inaugural sister school Sammu Boyo Junior High School in Chiba prefecture, Japan via Microsoft teams. Students from both countries sang, compared cities, practiced language skills and shared their love of koalas! The Japanese students were very excited to meet with us, waving their Australian flags and engaging our students with their humour. Our students were complimented on their Japanese speaking skills. Our students will communicate further with profiles and talk about kendo during the next interaction. Mr Satoshi’s comments included:
‘For us, the time we spent interacting with you was like a dream. Thank you to you for giving us such a wonderful time.
We were surprised that your students were very good at Japanese. We were also impressed by the students who sang Japanese songs.
Of course, I've sung that song as well, so I sang it together with their singing voice. We knew and were happy how interested you were in Japanese culture…The students and teachers of Sammuboyo Junior High School are very much looking forward to interacting with you again. We love Australia!’
GP in Schools Pilot Program
Exciting News. Our GP, Dr Dushyant Singh, and his clinic nurse started Friday 15th July. Dr Dushyant Singh was born in Amritsar, India, famous for the Golden Temple. Dr Dushyant always wanted to be a doctor and worked diligently to enter medical school. He is an excellent footballer and at one point he represented his school at national level. After finishing Medicine, he worked in General Practice and Emergency. In Australia, he completed his fellowship General Practice and continued to practice as a GP with emergency skills while in Australia. Dr Singh is now director of Urgent Care Brisbane, a medical practice which treats walk in emergency appointments. Dr Singh’s passion for the adolescent health is evident. He states, “It comes with many challenges, and I still study and keep myself updated. I have always found adolescent medicine very interesting and have developed skills of instant rapport building, a highly essential skill in consulting with adolescents! All doctors at Urgent Care Brisbane are highly passionate and are welcoming of the state government initiative of GP in schools pilot program.”
About the GP in schools pilot program
Helping students access the health care they need
The Pilot is part of the Queensland Government's Student Well-being Package, an initiative which will make it easier for all Ripley Valley SSC students and students in Year 6 at Ripley Valley SS to access the healthcare they need.
The GP clinic is located in our B block, community hub which already houses a community midwife clinic. This clinic will provide students with access to a GP each Friday morning between the hours of 9.00AM to 12:30AM during the school terms.
Parents/Guardians and Students are able to book an appointment with the School GP by:
Email: GPbookings@ripleyvalleySSC.com.au
Phone: 3819 5321
Students may also book an appointment by speaking directly with the Administrative Co-ordinator in Student Support Services (J Block) and an appointment slip will be emailed to you. If you are a first-time user of the clinic, please register you (student) or your child’s details using this link:
https://urgentcarebne.snapforms.com.au/form/student-registration-form---ripley-school-
This link will allow you to register your medicare number and basic medical details with Urgent Care Brisbane, but the booking must be made via the options given above (email, phone or in person at Student Support Services). Please input Dr Singh as your Doctor and Ripley Valley SSC as your clinic.
What services will the GP provide?
Our school GP clinic will offer secondary students the majority of services that young people are able to access from GPs in the community, including management of physical health, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health issues. The school GP clinic is not a vaccination centre.
Will there be a cost for students to see the GP?
All visits to the GP will be provided at no cost to students or their families. The GP will bulk-bill all appointments through Medicare, so it is important that students bring their Medicare card (or their Medicare number) with them to their appointment.

Welcome back to a chilly Term 3. Now that the winter solstice has passed, hopefully we can look forward to the weather warming up.
Recently Defence postings were made available to Defence members which means at the end of this year, Ripley Valley State Secondary College (RVSSC) will farewell some of our Defence students and in 2023 will welcome in newly posted ones. Currently our ratio of Defence students is approximately 1 in 10 and is growing. This year 53 Australian Defence Force (ADF) families enrolled their children at RVSSC. The Defence School Mentor (DSM) program provides support to children of serving ADF members as they face the challenges of posting into new locations and frequent parental absences due to deployments, training and other service requirements. The DSM also supports children whose parents have transitioned back to civilian life since enrolment into the College.
All students of current and ex-serving ADF members are welcome to attend Defence club which is held every Wednesday and Friday at second break at the Drop Zone in J2.07.
I am always looking for ways to improve the delivery of support to our ADF students and I welcome any feedback you may have on the DSM program at our College.
Week 3of this Term (25th - 29th July) will be RVSSC's first Defence Week. The focus this year will be on how the military lifestyle impacts ADF families, highlighting some of the unique challenges all members of a Defence family face as a result of the Defence members service. Defence Week puts a spotlight on military life to the whole school community and to give students and teachers an insight into the varied spectrum of experiences ADF members and their families encounter.
Defence Week is our way of saying thank you to all the families who sacrifice and support their Defence members service to Australia, so that other families don't have to.
We are very lucky to have a guest speaker from the Royal Australian Air Force who will address the school assembly with their experiences as an ADF family. There will also be a display set up in the Library for students and teachers to visit and the Defence Club will be open at second break on the 27th and 29th of July for all students and staff to come and make a poppy for the upcoming Remembrance Day commemoration.

Love Bites is a highly regarded program that aims to provide young people with a safe environment to examine, discuss and explore respectful relationships. The Program takes a strengths-based approach and views young people as active participants who are able to make choices for themselves and their relationships when supported with information and opportunity for skill development.
Love Bites education is focused on three critical areas for learning; knowledge (youth-led collaborative learning), attitudes (critical thinking and decision-making) and behaviours (problem solving and communication skills). The overall aim of this program is to equip young people with the knowledge needed to have respectful relationships, encourage and develop their skills in critical thinking and assist them in being able to problem solve and communicate effectively. When equipped in these areas, we believe that young people can make the right choices for themselves and their relationships that are free from violence and abuse.
Alicia and myself will be the facilitators of the sessions and have received specialised training in the Love Bites program. Alicia and I will also be available to provide support and assistance to students before, during and after each session if required.
If you wish for your child to attend these workshops please send an email to myself or Alicia. Once we have received your email we will be in touch with further information and a permission form.
Mentoring Program
A program that the Chaplaincy Service is looking to start up is the mentoring program. The mentoring program will include community people who will spend 1 hour a week, 1 on 1 with a student within our community in an open space on the college grounds. The mentor is a life mentor and will undergo child safety training by the College as well as SU. The mentor must be over 21 years of age and have a blue card to participate.
This is a great way for the wider Ripley Community to be involved with the college and to help support students. If you want to be a mentor or if your child is someone who you think would benefit from this program, please contact me.
Chaplaincy Committee
The Local Chaplaincy Committee is the supporting and guiding body behind the Chaplaincy Service helping shape it to meet the wellbeing of the school community here at RVSSC. If you would like to attend and be a part of the committee, we have our next meeting on Thursday the 11th of August at 4 pm here at the College.
Spiritual Support
One of my roles as Chaplain is to provide spiritual support. One of the ways I do this is to connect students to a local youth group. If you feel as a parent that this is something your child needs, please contact me and I will find local youth groups that are around where you reside.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club starts up again this coming week and will continue to operate on Tuesdays' & Wednesday's from 8:15am until Access. If your child has already registed to help out they would have receive confirmation of this by now. If your child is interested in helping out but have not registered their interest as yet, all they have to do is check Daymap and sign up by following the link. I want to thank all the students who helped out last term.
Welcome back sports fans,

Yagera Sport Winter Season
Yagera sport is a competitive competition played in our district over a range of sports. All the teams have been selected for this competition and placed on Daymap. If your child participated in the trials but doesn’t know their outcome please contact Justin Clifford to clarify. If your student didn’t make the team, encourage them to continue participating in sport and to try again next year. As sport continues to grow at our college, so will the opportunities to participate in their favourite sports.
The dates for the events are:
22nd of July – Boys Volleyball & Boys and Girls Soccer
5th of August – Boys Rugby League, Boys Basketball and Girls Netball.
Training will continue next term. If we do not get enough students attending training, the teams will be at risk of being removed from the competition. It is important that students are wearing the correct gear when training for these sports. For example, Rugby League players must have a mouth guard and football boots. Our current training schedule is:
As always, any questions related to sport please contact the sports coordinator Mr Justin Clifford (jclif117@eq.edu.au)

We all deserve respectful, safe and non-violent environments, so aggression and harassment of any kind—physical, verbal or otherwise—isn't acceptable.
When you interact with school staff, remember we're all on the same team to support your child. We all have your child's best interests at heart, and the best way to achieve a positive learning experience is to work together.
