English, Humanities & Languages
Welcome back to Term 3!
This term English classes across the college are deep diving into text studies. Our Year 7’s are working with poetry, while our Year 8 and 9 students are studying a novel.
In term 3, students from all year levels have the opportunity to participate in the Write in a Book in a Day competition. Write a Book in a Day is an inclusive, creative competition with a difference!
Teams of up to ten have just 12 hours to write and illustrate a book that will be uploaded to an online library for children in hospitals around Australia. So far, we have five teams who have nominated.
If anyone would like to join, we still have a few more spots available - please email Miss Champs (tcham77@eq.edu.au) for more information. We are also seeking sponsors for our five teams, allowing them to enter their published books into the competition. If any businesses or individuals are interested in sponsoring our Write a Book in a Day teams, please email Miss Champs (tcham77@eq.edu.au) for more information.
With our Year 9 and 10 students starting to think very carefully about their subjects and future pathways, it is a timely reminder to consider the benefits of Senior Humanities subjects. The suite of Senior Humanities subjects compliment studies at university by explicitly teaching academic research, referencing and writing skills. If your child is considering further study, we very much encourage students to choose a Senior Humanities subject.
