What a year we've had so far in the Senior School! We've had multiple students complete HeadStart courses, students recently went on excursion to the Brisbane Truck Show, we've been announced as a Gateway School to the Building & Construction Industry, and our Year 10's are now preparing for their upcoming Industry Connections Program. Please see some key dates and information below relating to our Years 10's, 11's and 12's.
RVSSC CAREERS EXPO - Monday 9th June
Our annual Careers Expo is quickly approaching with over 100 different stalls from universities to training providers to employment services and more. The expo will run from 1.30pm-4.30pm this year. All seniors will have the opportunity to walk through the expo in Period 4 and then the expo is open to all community members from 2.45pm. There will be subject presentations held at 4.45pm and 5.30pm for students transitioning from Year 9 into Year 10 as well as for those transitioning from Year 10 into Year 11 & 12.
YEAR 10 INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS PROGRAM - 16th to 27th JuneOver Weeks 9 & 10 of Term 2, Year 10's will be engaging in work experience (either real or virtual) and have the opportunity to sign up for 16 different industry incursions & excursions and participate in a range of other opportunities, such as CPR for Life Training. YEAR 11 QCE REVIEWS - Wednesday 18th June
All Year 11's will participate in a review of their QCE tracking and subject selections. This will be the ideal time for students to make any timetable changes as they move into their final three units of their senior subjects. Bookings can be made via Daymap. Parent/carer attendance is non-compulsory but is highly recommended.
WOMEN WHO WELD - Monday 23rd June
Thanks to the Queensland Manufacturing Institute, our senior female students have the opportunity to partake in a free Women Who Weld workshop where they will learn more about working in the industry and create their own jewellery tree. YEAR 10 SET PLAN MEETINGS - Wednesday 6th August
Not until Term 3, but our Year 10 families will be invited to meet with one of our school leaders to discuss subject choices for their child to ensure they are placed on the best pathway to success in their senior years. Bookings will open on Monday 9th June at 5.30pm via Daymap. It's important to note that there are both academic & financial pre-requisites and I recommend families contact the Finance team to discuss this prior to SETP's if they have any questions.
