Student Wellbeing - Chaplain and YSC
This term is quickly flying by and there are still plenty of activities planned for the remainder of the school year.
Student Support through Chaplain and Youth Support Co-ordinators
The role of the Chaplain and Youth Support Co-ordinators is to work directly with students to support them emotionally and socially; and to assist with their engagement with school; working through strategies to ensure students have a positive learning experience. They can provide support with one-on-one conversations. If you would like support for your child, please email:

Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is back up and running for the term. If you wish to help out, please let me know.
Strength
Strength is a program for boys currently in Year 9 & 10 and covers topics such as finding significance, building resilience and having courage. The program has already started and we are looking forward to seeing the young men benefit from this program.
Rock N Water
Rock and Water is a program we are currently running for students in Year 7 & Year 8. The Rock and Water program is designed to decrease bullying and depressive feelings, and increases self-esteem, self-regulation and social acceptance. It also aims to build self-confidence, self-respect and self-reflection through psychophysical training. Rock and Water is delivered as a course of lessons consisting of different exercises and games.
Shine Program
The SHINE program is being run for selected students in Years 9 & 10. The SHINE program is a personal development program that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop greater self-awareness and personal growth. This program is broken down into three units with each unit focusing on achieving specific objectives:
- Worth/Significance focuses on enhancing self-esteem
- Strength/Resilience aims to increase emotional intelligence
- Purpose/Courage encourages participants to dream and set goals for the future.
Peer Mentor 2024 Applications
We want to thank everyone who applied to be Peer Mentors for 2024. Please check your emails to see if you are successful in your application. Please note that the training for this is being held in Week 10 on Tuesday the 5th of December & Wednesday the 6th of December.
Awards Evening
On Wednesday the 18th of October the college held its annual Awards Evening. The Chaplaincy Service sponsored the College Wellbeing Award which recognizes students who demonstrate an attitude of service to their peers, community groups and volunteer organisations as well as leadership qualities, students who uphold the school's values and exemplifies the attributes of the Chaplaincy Service.
I want to congratulate Gowri Menon who received the Junior College Wellbeing Award and Joshna Johnson who received the Senior College Wellbeing Award.
SU Camps
Scripture Union Australia, the organisation that employs the chaplains here in Ripley Valley and in hundreds of schools across the country is also a camping organisation. If you are looking for something for your child to do over the holidays, please follow the following link.

Christmas Carols
On Saturday the 9th of December & Sunday the 10th of December the chaplaincy service is selling glowsticks at the Springfield and Ripley Christmas Carols to raise funds for the chaplaincy service here at the college. If your child wants to help out, please get them to keep an eye out on Daymap in the weeks to come to sign up.
