ASSESSMENT! ASSESSMENT! ASSESSMENT!
We are in the peak assessment period across the English faculty. Encouraging students to prioritise tasks and seek support early will help reduce the stress and anxiety that often increases at this time.
A reminder that English Homework Club is open every first break to support all students.
On Thursday 1st June, our Junior Reader's Cup team competed in the Brisbane West Regional Competition. Our team flexed their brain muscles and did an exceptional job representing our school, tying for fourth place with Saint Edmunds, beating 23 other teams! It was one cheeky question where the answer was to be found in the author's notes pages that got us in the end. Congratulation’s gentlemen! We are so proud of you and are looking forward to seeing you bring your A game to the competition next year.
We also love to see students in the classroom building their skills. This term, Ms Brown’s Year 9 English classes have been building their evaluative language skills – literally! Students have built a word wall of positive and negative adjectives and adverbs to use when critiquing documentaries. We can’t wait to see how they use these parts of speech in their upcoming assessment!!
On Thursday 8th June, students, parents and our community enjoyed our college Careers Expo. This is an exciting time as our students and their families begin to contemplate future pathways and subject selections. Please find below information relating to the various pathway’s English offers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the college or via email jbunt18@eq.edu.au, your child’s English teacher, or their Head of Year.
Thank you to Ms Champs, Ms Brown and Ms Marks for their contributions to this edition.
