Chaplain News

Dear Parents/Carers

We have hit the middle of the final term of 2022 and have much to look forward to in the last half of the term such as camps, rewards day and our Orientation Day.

Assessments have now commenced. It's important for your child to look after themselves. This can look like going for a walk, hanging out with their friends or doing something they enjoy. Having a proper rest will assist them in their ability to focus better on their studies.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club is still operating on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the end of week 8. I do want to thank all of our student volunteers this term for helping out. Without them, Breakfast club would not run as smoothly as it does.

Love Bites

Love Bites has finished. Thanks to all of our year 10s that participated. Alicia our Youth Worker and myself are looking forward to running the program in 2023.

Rock & Water

Sadly Rock & Water was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. I do want to thank those who signed up, and look forward to running it in Term 1 and Term 3 next year.

2023 Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors for 2023 have been selected and notified. A 2 day training program will be happening in week 10. If your child has been selected, the training permission form will be sent out soon, so keep an eye on your emails.

Awards Evening

The Chaplaincy Service had the honour of sponsoring the Well-being Champion Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize those who serve in the college and in the broader community as well as those who look after the well-being of others. Congratulations once again Erin Boby who received the Senior Well-being Champion Award, and Kripa Fragy, who received the Junior Well-being Champion Award.

Spiritual Support

One of my roles as Chaplain is to provide spiritual support. One of the ways I do this is to connect students with a local youth group. If you feel as a parent that this is something your child needs, please contact me and I will find local youth groups in your locality.

Chaplaincy Committee

The Local Chaplaincy Committee is the supporting and guiding body behind the Chaplaincy Service. It's purpose is to assist and shape the service so that it effectively supports well-being of the school community; both at RVSSC & at Ripley Valley State School. If you would like to attend and be a part of the committee, we have our next meeting on Thursday the 10th of November at 4 pm here at the college.

SU Camps

Scripture Union Australia, the organisation that employs the chaplains here in Ripley Valley and in hundreds of schools across the country, is also a camping organisation. If you are looking for something for your child to do over the holidays, please follow the following link. https://sucamps.org.au/?season=summer

I'm looking forward to remainder of the term.

Take care,
