Available Job Opportunities
Lately there have been many job opportunities advertised to students through their email. If your child is interested in working casually make sure they keep their eyes out for these notifications. If they need support in writing a resume /cover letter please advise your child to see Mrs George (Industry Liaison Officer) in the Careers Centre which is located in the Library.
School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Along with casual job opportunities a number of School Based Traineeships (Business or Hospitality) or School Based Apprenticeship (Boilermaker) have been advertised to students through their email also. If students are interested in these opportunities please see Mrs George in the Careers Centre to update your resume and complete an application form.
Industry Connections Program
As part of our Industry Connections Program and in partnership with Apprenticeships Queensland we are pleased to offer students the opportunity to participate in the AQ Industry Placement Program. The program is an arrangement between the school, a host employer, and Apprenticeships Queensland to provide unpaid work experience at a workplace, as an integral part of your secondary studies.
The AQ Industry Placement Program involves students in Year 10 & 11 in 2023 showing interest in working within the Trade or Dental industry and needing to gain valuable work skills.
Successful student applicants will spend one day per week, over an agreed period of weeks attending a work placement within the following industry areas depending on host availability:
- Building & Construction (Carpentry, Bricklayer, Cabinet Maker, Plumber, Plasterer, Tiler, Painter & Decorator)
- Engineering (Boilermaker, Fitter & Turner, Sheet Metal Worker)
- Automotive (Light/Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, Panel Beater)
- Dental (Dental Assistant, Dental Technician, Business Administration)
There is flexibility around the scheduled work day to accommodate individual student timetables. For more information or to complete an application form please see Mrs George in the Careers Centre.
