Sport's News
Welcome back sports fans,
The past term has been a crazy time for sport in the college with our students participating in our school Athletics Carnival, District Athletics and Yagera sport. Throughout all of these events our athletes have performed remarkably and represented the college with pride.
Athletics Carnival
Our annual Athletics carnival was held on the last day of Term 2, with students competing in a range of events including 100m sprint, Javelin and Long Jump. We had our greatest participation rate yet with Blaine walking away with the overall carnival victory. If you are interested in joining little athletics to improve in your favourite event, Mr Clifford has posted a flyer on Daymap for little athletics. Please contact him for more details.

Our students all did very well against other teams in our local area. The following students did exceptionally well in their events and will compete in the Met West Carnival later this month:
- Max Backwell: 1500m & 800m
- Timara Bowman: 100m & 200m
- Kaylan Harris: Long Jump
- Jordyn Reid: High Jump, Discus & Shot Put

Yagera Sport
During Week 4 and Week 5 of this term a number of our students participated in a range of sports at the Yagera Sport Competition. Most of our teams have been training for these carnivals before and after school since the start of Term 2. All teams represented the College with pride, embodying our school values.
Rugby League
The Year 8 Rugby League Carnival was held at Souths Rugby League in Acacia Ridge. The boys came up against some strong competition in Forest Lake and Bellbird Park. The boys closely lost both games, a remarkable improvement from last year. Player of the Carnival went to Jack Sawyers.
Football
The Football Carnival was held across Dunlop Park and CJ Greenfield, with four of our teams participating. The Year 10 girls team went to a penalty shoot-out in their semi-final, taking victory after a nail biting seven shots. Both Girls teams went down in the grand finale, walking away with second place. The boys teams also did well, earning us a fourth and sixth place. Player of the Carnival went to Cameron Cullen, Miley Lake, Isaac Green & Eva Hyland.
Basketball
The Basketball Carnival was held at the Ipswich Basketball Association in Bundamba. Our Year 10 boys team played three games, winning one and closely losing the other two. They have their eyes on the win for next year. Player of the carnival went to Aaron Doheny being named Player of the Carnival.
Netball
The Netball Carnival was held at Limestone Park this year where, for the first time, we were able to field four full teams in netball. Of the four teams only the Year 7’s made the finals. However, we continue to see growth in our netball in the College. Players of the Carnival went to Charlotte Coates, Maiya Dixon, Christina Tukuafu & Lucy Hodge.
Volleyball
The boys Volleyball Carnival was held at Nissan Arena. The Year 8 boys won four games, which put them through to the semi finals. They fought hard but were unfortunately knocked out in the final. The Year 9’s were unable to win a game against the tough competition, but are continuing to improve for future years. Player of the Carnival went to Eben Petrick, Nikau Kahotea & Nathan Escoto.
Springfield Central Friendly
In the coming weeks all four of our school volleyball teams will be competing against Springfield Central in a friendly home and away series. This term we are playing at home, with our junior girls and boys serving off at 3:45pm in the Raptordome. Our senior boys and girls will be serving at 4:30pm. Feel free to come along and support our teams. Please keep an eye on daymap for more details early next week.
Ripley Athlete Development (RAD)
This term we introduced Ms Kara Hansen to our HPE team. Ms Hansen has a background in exercise science and athletics and is helping run the RAD program. Her expertise is helping lift our sporting excellence to improve our competition and personal sporting goals. If you would like to join RAD, it is held every Wednesday afternoon 3pm – 4pm and Friday morning 7:15am – 8am.
