Pathways

Careers Expo:
On Wednesday 13th July (Week 1, Term 3), the RVSSC students will have a unique opportunity to discover their passions and explore their talents. The Careers Expo is an event designed to provide the students with an opportunity to connect with future or potential stakeholders in an immersive and interactive way. Students will find out specific information about services and different industries. There will be a opportunity for parents/guardians to be involved in a Community Session that will run after-school. Please look out for communication via social media to find out more information.

Year 10 Work Experience:
During Week 4, our Year 10 students embarked on their first ever Year 10 Work Experience. This saw our students engage in placements of their desired career pathways, aspirations or options. Unfortunately due to some placements not being available the College had to place students in areas that may have not been their first preference.
A huge thank you to Mrs George, Mr Dunn for organising placements and getting paperwork together.  Another huge thank you to our Workplace Hosts for ultimately taking on students for their Work Experience Placement. We look forward to planning Year 10 Work Experience for 2023.

Elevate Education:
During Week 5, we had Elevate Education deliver their study skills programs to our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 cohort. Elevate’s study skills seminars are designed to achieve behavioural change amongst students. The challenge in any study skills program is getting students to use and apply the skills they learn. Elevate gets students using the skills from its seminars by using an integrated process that works. This is the second time we have had Elevate Education come and present to our students.

Year 9 PPP Meetings & Senior Schooling:
On Tuesday, the Year 9 cohort were presented an information session on the Introduction to Senior School and what Senior Schooling looks like at Ripley Valley SSC. Our Head of Department Pathways, Mr. Dunn and Deputy Principal Teaching & Learning, Mrs Prenzler, presented to the Year 9 cohort specific information about Year 10 subject selections, pathways, assessment expectations and student conduct in Senior Schooling. The Year 9 students will be engaging in the PPP process starting from Week 7, Term 2, along with the PPP meetings with parents/caregivers in Week 3, Term 3. It is important for our students to understand how their selected subjects can benefit them towards their chosen pathway or career options. If there are any questions relating to your Year 9 student or the PPP process, please contact Mr. Dunn or Mrs. Prenzler.

Year 11 2023 Subject Information:

During Period 4 on Wednesday, our current Year 10 students completed a survey identifying what subjects they may wish to study in Year 11 2023. Depending on student interest, we will be finalising what subjects options Year 10 students will be able to select for Year 11. In Week 9, our Year 10 students will have a Parent Information Night where they will receive information on what Year 11 looks like for our senior students.

Please reach out if you have any further information regarding your student, pathways or career options.
