TAFE - COMMUNITY SERVICES TASTER & HEALTH CARE TASTER
TAFE at Schools have just released the below information regarding the TRADE Taster program for 2023 for the Community Services Taster and the Health Care Taster. If you are interested in these two careers/industries this could be a great opportunity for them.
Please see all information below. Please note applications close on the 1st November 2023. Unfortunately Ipswich TAFE is not offering these courses, and students would need to attend Southbank, Loganlea, Alex Hills or Caboolture TAFE 1 x day a week (day to be confirmed early next year).
TAFE Queensland, Brisbane region is excited to continue our taster programs in 2022!
We will be offering the Community Services and Health Care tasters in Term 1 and Term 2.
These taster programs allow eligible high school students to get hands-on experience in an essential service industry without needing to commit to a full qualification.
Students get to see if this industry is the right option for them and test out a potential career path that they’re considering in the future. Additionally, the Community Services and Health Care tasters seek to provide Year 10 school students with a pathway into the subsidised Certificate II in Community Services (CHC22015) or Certificate II in Health Support Services (HLT23215) qualifications respectively.
Students can complete the identified units of competency in Year 10, and then if they wish to continue their studies, complete the qualification in Year 11 and 12.
Please find further details below including important information around applying.
Community Services Taster
The Year 10 Community Services taster program will deliver training to a small group of students, one day per week for eight weeks.

Delivery will consist of:
- Eight (8) weeks of delivery to complete the following units of competency
- Attending a TAFE Queensland campus one (1) day per week for class
- Simulation of some tasks completed on campus in the state of the art facilities
- Students complete the required assessments to obtain a competent outcome for these units
