English, Humanities & Languages
Welcome back to term 4!
This term in English, our students in Year’s 8 and 9's will be the first to complete a novel study with our brand-new books – we are very excited as this marks another milestone first for our college. To maximise the longevity of our resources, and to ensure no student misses out, all reading will be completed in class. Therefore, it is vital that students are attending every English lesson.
Our Year 8 classes have already started contextualising their novels by looking at what it means to be a ‘teenager’. Mrs Martins and 8D took to drawing their thoughts, while Ms Champs’ classes created word arts to demonstrate their understanding.
With the success of the lunchtime English Homework Club last term, we will again offer this to students starting in week 6, through to the end of the assessment period – it was awesome to see so many students making the choice to maximise their chances for success.
A reminder to any of our students interested in entering The Simpson Prize essay competition as well as the Slam Poetry competition, both of which were advertised in our last newsletter.
