Pathways
Apprenticeships Queensland (AQ), in conjunction with training partner TAFE Queensland, is excited to announce the next project house for Certificate I in Construction, a work ready program for school students.
Students will be exposed to a live construction site and be involved in the renovation of the property.
Students will experience the importance of:
• attitude
• initiative and enthusiasm
• work ethic and reliability
KEY POINTS OF THE PROGRAM:
• students attend work experience 1 day per week (excluding school holidays )
• students and schools select day between Monday to Thursday
• start at 7:30 am and finish at 2:30 pm
• training split between AQ Training Centre at 292 Brisbane St West Ipswich and 10 Flint Street North Ipswich QLD 4305
• parents/guardians responsible for transport - Project site is a short walk from buses at Riverlink shopping centre.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
• school attendance must be over 85%
• must be eligible for VETiS funding
• must have sound knowledge of Maths and English with minimum pass results and complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) test
• all students will be interviewed by Apprenticeships Queensland
• Three (3) forms of ID must be brought to the interview
(one of Passports or Birth Certificate and 2 of school photo ID or Medicare card or bank account card)
• Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be provided to TAFE Queensland on enrolment
IMPORTANT NOTES TO REMEMBER!
• Year 12 students will be considered for full time opportunities with host business on completion
• Year 10 and 11 students will be considered for paid school based carpentry and painting apprentice opportunities at the next house renovation project in 2023
• Progression to P licence important to be considered for employment opportunities (in 2023)
