Assessment

All students are currently completing assessment that will contribute towards their Semester Two Report Cards. Assessment Results for Term 3 will be available to all parents/carers and students via Daymap Parent Connect Portal. These results are released by teachers as soon as the marking and moderation process is completed in Week 10. If you have any questions about your child's assessment results, please contact their teacher via email or Daymap message.

If your child has experienced extenuating circumstances leading into assessment and is having difficulties managing their time, they can apply for an extension via the online forms (links below).

Before due date form: https://ripleyvalleyssc.schoolzineplus.com/form/72

After due date form: https://ripleyvalleyssc.schoolzineplus.com/form/73

Completion of these forms sends a notification to the relevant House Head of Department, who will process the application and advise the student, parent/carer and relevant teachers of the outcome of the application.

Student Free Day
This Friday 3rd September was a scheduled Student Free Day.  On this day all staff were engaging in curriculum or professional development activities.
Many parents/carers wonder why there is a designated Student Free Day at this point of the year. This Friday the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) will commence confirming the results of Year 12 students in their General subjects. They require almost 3000 teachers to be involved in this process to quality assure the judgements of teachers across the state to ensure results given to students are equitable - no matter where they attend school across Queensland. To support this process, the Department of Education schedules a student free day so that education services across the state are not interrupted by the 1000s of teachers who are employed by QCAA to conduct this process from Friday until Sunday this week.
At our College we are continuing to engage in professional development by completing our First Aid qualifications and continuing to develop our curriculum for our first Year 10 students in 2022. This day allows us to have collaborative planning across our teaching teams to ensure we are aligned in our approach to Senior Schooling at Ripley Valley SSC.
Preservice Teachers
Across Term 3 we have welcomed 9 Preservice Teachers from our University Partners at QUT, UQ and USQ. I would like to acknowledge and thank our staff for their work in supporting these preservice teachers as they continue in their learning journey to become their future colleagues. All of our preservice teachers have made valuable contributions to the learning environments of our students and I know they have enjoyed their time at Ripley Valley SSC.
