Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

The end of Term 3 is fast approaching and I know staff and students have been working hard over the past few weeks completing drafts, providing feedback and  submitting assessment.  To keep track of your child's progress I would encourage parents/carers to download the Daymap app/software to see their child's work, feedback and achievement after marking.  This "live" online marking tool gives parents and students the ability to see and track your academic progress.  Instructions are available for parents on how to download and access Daymap through our school website.  An end of semester report card will be issued at the end of the year, and parents are encouraged to speak to their child's teachers if they have any concerns.

I want to thank parents, staff and students for their patience and understanding over the past 4 weeks as we have adjusted to the current and ongoing COVID restrictions.  While I am sure we are all looking forward to a time of no face masks and increased travel, your support and understanding during this difficult time has been appreciated.

Our college building progress continues to move ahead on schedule for the start of the 2022 school year.  At this stage we are expecting around 600 students to be enrolled at Ripley Valley State Secondary College in 2022 and I encourage any families who have siblings or friends that that are yet to enrol to do so as soon as possible.  We have a significant number of people wanting to enrol in our college next year and we want to ensure that we have the right staff and class groupings for the new year.

This week and next, there is a significant amount of building works occurring in the original areas of our school.  We have had new curtains and stage lighting installed in the "Raptordome" sports centre.  We have also commenced work on our new ANZAC mural and RAAF statue installation at the front of the college and next week we hope to install the combined football/rugby league posts on the oval.  All these works, combined with our major stage 2 buildings makes our school a very busy place at the moment.  I thank parents and students for their patience during construction and look forward to starting the new year with these new facilities.

As we approach the end of term I once again want to thank staff, students and parents for their patience and support in what has been yet another very busy and sometimes stressful season.

Yours sincerely,
