ART
Year Eight Art students will be having endless fun experimenting with ephemeral art this term. In order to play with line, form, shape and pattern found in natural objects, we've been busy collecting leaves, seeds, seedpods, sticks, stackablee stones and feathers.
If you have any interesting natural items in your backyard for our collection, we'd love to have them! Not only are we collecting leaves, seeds, seedpods, sticks, stackablee stones and feathers, we are also collecting bottle caps, ring pulls and any multiples of flat, coloured plastic items for a special 'end of unit' project in week 10. We have a special box in administration for donation drop offs.
DANCE & DRAMA
Welcome back to term 3. As the year progresses we have now picked up our second round of classes who are studying drama this year. There has been an exciting start to the week as students are trying out these subjects for the first time. Our year 7 dancers have started learning their routine and our year 8 drama students have been participating in lots of team building games. Year 9 drama elective is on board this semester for the first time ever at RVSSC. Students are getting straight into working on their script writing tasks.
In our year 7 Dance unit, Just Dance, we will be focusing on introducing students to Dance in High School through the genre of Popular Dance.
In year 8 Drama we will be looking at Children’s Theatre in the unit Child’s play. Students will have opportunities to respond to and create their own Drama works.
This semester year 9 Drama students will be studying Daytime Soaps. They will be creating their own Soap Opera as well as responding to work of others.
All Dance and Drama students are required to perform as a part of their units. Performance maybe new for many of our students but we can assure you that we work with the students to build up their confidence to ensure that they are ready and confident to perform on assessment day.
DANCE SQUAD
Our enthusiastic team of dancers have been straight back into training this week. We finished off term 2 with a performance of our contemporary routine on assembly during week 10. The team is currently working hard on their Hip Hop routine and look forward to sharing it with the community.
