Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to Term 3 and what is shaping to be a very full schedule within our College calendar over the next few months. A very special welcome to our new students and families who have enrolled with us this term having moved from other schools and interstate. I trust you are settling in and becoming active members of our school community as we work together to achieve excellence.
This term a number of new staff have joined our College community and I welcome Ms Jaymie Parish (English/Humanities teacher), Ms Candice Vidotto (Art teacher), Ms Taletha Champs (English/Humanities teacher), Ms Christie McKendry (Math/Science/HPE teacher), Ms Rachael Pratt (Administration Officer) and Mr Paul McAully (Computer Systems Administrator). Over the coming weeks we will be introducing you to our new staff on our social media platforms so you can get to know them better.
This term a significant focus for our year 8 and 9 students/parents is on subject selections, and in the case of year 9 students our senior schooling pathways. Ms Angela Waugh has been leading this work and over the coming weeks/months parents and students will be given the opportunity to attend various information sessions to allow parents and students the best opportunity to understand these choices, changes and future pathway possibilities. I encourage all parents/students to attend these events which will be promoted via Facebook/school media as we prepare for the start of senior schooling in year 10 next year.
In other exciting news, Ripley Valley State Secondary College was one of only 120 schools selected across the state to offer an after school homework club for students. All students are able to attend the homework club in Building CG.09 on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 2.45-4.15pm. A light snack will be provided for those who attend and further details are provided in our newsletter and on our school Facebook/website.
As our College continues to grow, so too does our buildings and facilities. The current Stage 2 works are on track to be completed by the end of 2021 and ready for student use in 2022. It is exciting to see the recent building progress and we plan on hosting another College Open Day in early 2022 to showcase these new facilities to our school and wider community.
Last but not least, the final items for our senior school uniform have arrived and are on display at school. I would like to thank the P & C, students and school community for their input and involvement in this process and we look forward to our year 10 students wearing the new formal/senior uniform in 2022.
I would also like to encourage all parents/adults to support and book tickets to attend our inaugural P & C Comedy for a Cause fundraising night. All proceeds made from this event will come back to the P & C to enhance our ever-expanding school learning environment from student outdoor seating, football/soccer posts on the oval and shade. The comedy night will feature national comedians and will be a good, clean night of fun. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on the night and due to the service of alcohol, if desired, the P & C will promote this as an 18+ age limit event.
If you want further information, or to become involved in our P & C Association please email: PandC@ripleyvalleyssc.eq.edu.au
Once again, thank you for partnering with us as we work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for your child.
Yours sincerely,
