Year 10 - Subject Information Night and PPP Sessions
We have been busy preparing for our Year 9 students transitioning to Year 10 in only 7 months. This transition to Senior School is a big change for students (and parents!).
Over the coming weeks our year 9 parents will be notified of a Year 10 parent information session, where we will provide you with valuable information on what to expect in Senior School, what pathway options are available to our students and of course information on Subjects. Our Pathway Preparation Planning (PPP) sessions will happen in the first few weeks of Term 3, and is an opportunity for parents and students to sit down individually with a member of staff to plan their individual pathway. These sessions are mandatory for all year 9 students, and will help set students and families up for success next year.
University Experience Days
I have began posting various University opportunity and experience days onto Daymap for any interested students. These are great days for those students thinking they might like to attend university after school, and gives students a chance to visit areas of interest. The most recent is in Bio-Medicine. If your child is interested in a Science/Medicine degree this could be of interest. Please email me for further information.
2021 Tertiary Studies Expo reminder
The annual Brisbane Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO), Australia's largest tertiary studies expo, offers a unique opportunity for anyone interested in starting, changing or upgrading their career. It will be held at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 July 2021 from 10am to 4pm on both days. The Expo will feature many local, interstate and overseas education providers, students' services and support agencies. Don't miss this great opportunity to map out your future, all in the one location!
Available Job Opportunities
As our students are now at the age where they can obtain casual jobs, I have started posting job opportunities to them via Daymap. I have more jobs coming up in the coming week or two, so if your child is interested in working casually make sure they keep their eyes out. I also have uploaded a template resume onto the student Sharepoint page for them to fill in to get them started. If you need support in writing a resume / cover letter please have students visit my office.
