Maths, Science & HPE

It is so great to write to you all as we head towards the middle of Term 2. This term has seemed to fly by with so many short weeks due to public holidays and other events. This has been sure to keep all staff and students very busy.

Earlier this term we farewelled Annie Gamlan who started at the College as one of the foundation staff members in 2020. I want to thank Annie for all of the expertise and support she was able to offer to the College in her time with us.

Some notices that I would like to make you aware of:

• In Mathematics, students are all currently working towards the completion of assignments. These will all be submitted via Daymap and information regarding due dates can be found on Daymap. If, for any reason, your child needs to apply for an extension this should be done online and more information can be found in their student diary or on the College SharePoint page.
• Mathematics tutoring will be starting up in Week 5 on Thursdays at 1^st break. This will be a space where students who cannot attend Homework club on Tuesday afternoons can come to seek additional support for Mathematics.
• Year 7 students have started to engage with practical experiments in science. Students must comply with the College’s uniform to be allowed to engage in these lessons as a matter of safety. Please ensure your child has the appropriate leather footwear available and their hair tied up.
• At the end of this term, students will participate in an Athletics carnival. It is recommended that any students who wishes to be competitive on the day should be accessing relevant training in preparation now.
