Chaplain News
Dear parents/carers
What a great start to the term it has been.
During the past few weeks, I have met some of you during the parent/teacher evening. I was also able to attend Final Edge which was the celebration of the completion of the Blue Edge program that ran here at RVSSC in term 1. It was great to take the students with Mr Lynn to the RAAF base and then have a celebration lunch at Forty West. I want to thank Forty West for their generosity by donating the food during the Blue Edge program as well as the mentors who participated in it.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club will continue to operate on Tuesdays & Thursdays. I want to thank Central Valley Church for financially supporting it and for all of my volunteers who help out.
I also want to thank Westside Christian College for their generous contribution to this program. Over the past few weeks, they have donated games, a heap of frozen ham and cheese sandwiches and multiple sandwich presses. I look forward to seeing the relationship between the two schools grow.
Pastoral Care
As a school chaplain, my role is to provide emotional, spiritual and social support to the students and the wider school community. One of the ways I provide support is with one-on-one pastoral care conversations. If you would like me to provide support for your child, please email me at katki121@eq.edu.au.
Colour Run
My role as the School Chaplain is funded through generous donations from the community and through fundraising events.
One fundraising event is a colour run. This year we’re holding the School Fun Run’s Crazy Colour Day as a major fundraising event this year! The event will be held on 28/05/21. We are really hoping to raise $10,000.
Currently, we have raised $1099.44 of our $10,000, so there is a way to go and I hope you’ll keep supporting us! Remember, the money raised will be going towards the Chaplaincy Service.
If you want to be a part of the fundraising.
- Go to schoolfunrun.com.au.
- Scroll down to where the blue box that says 'I'M A STUDENT / PARENT' and click on sign up
- A new window will open, and then register. You can share the link to friends and family

Local Chaplaincy Committee
The Local Chaplaincy Committee (LCC) is the supporting and guiding body behind the Chaplaincy Service helping to shape it to meet the wellbeing of the school community. The LCC meets roughly once a term and oversees the chaplaincy service both here at RVSSC and the primary school. If you would like to attend and be a part of the committee, we have our next meeting on Thursday the 10th of June at 4 pm here at the school. This meeting will be more of debrief meeting from the colour run, if you have any way to improve the event for future years feel free to come!
Trivia Night
Springfield Christian Family, a local church in Springfield is running a Trivia Fundraising Night on Friday the 28th of May at Woodcrest College at 7pm. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for local school chaplains. The church has decided to support the chaplaincy service here at RVSSC. The cost of this event is $10 with a chance to give financially towards the school as well as having an auction. The way registrations work is to get a team of 6 together and register together. If you want to register for this event please follow the link: https://bit.ly/KnectTrivia
