      New Staff!

Welcome Roshan Seth who is joining our Teacher Aide team:

Hey my name is Roshan, pronounced like ocean but with an R at the start. I’m a really sporty type of person but also love anime and gaming! My main sports are Basketball, American football and volleyball. I help run social night basketball at Brisbane Basketball and play regularly and spend an insane amount of money on shoes (Just ask me ?). I don’t really have a favourite team in the NBA but I could talk to you for days about any team. For football I play as a Wide Receiver and back up Running back. I play for the USQ Mustangs Football club. I play volleyball because of one of my favourite anime’s Haikyuu. I love to play as the setter or middle blocker. (I’m not that tall tho hahahah.) In my spare time when I’m not refereeing basketball or playing sports I watch anime and play games such as League of Legends, Super Smash Bros and Call of Duty. I love listening and talking so if you see me around the school come and say Hi!

      Parent-teacher Interviews

Parent- teacher interviews are a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and gain insight into the context of the classroom and supports in place. We highly encourage that you bring your child to the interviews as well.

      Tips for preparing:

      • Read comments on Daymap
      • Write down your questions
      • Ask for feedback
      • If you forget something, email the teacher after the meeting

"'You are involved to ensure...outcomes are in the best interests of your child and to bring your long-term vision and aspirations for your child to the table.

Don’t undervalue the importance of your role...

Remember, your child only grows up once, so take the time and effort to maximise the long-term outcomes of their schooling experience." (All means all, 2021).

"…Parents and families play an important role in supporting their child's education. Research has shown that when schools and families work together, children do better, stay in school longer, are more engaged with their school work, go to school more regularly, behave better, and have better social skills. Parent engagement also results in longer term economic, social and emotional benefits." (Australian Government, Department of Education, 2020).

How do families create a positive, trusting and collaborative relationship with their school?

      Personalised Learning Plans

All students’ Personalised Learning Plans will be sent home mid-term for you to review.

Not all students will have one of these plans, but if your child does, we ask that you read through the strategies and comments with them.

Here are some questions to help guide your review:

      • Do you agree with the strategies of support being used in the classroom?
      • Does your child feel the support is helpful for them?
      • Do you have any suggestions for teachers to consider to better support your child?
      • Does your child want to add something to their plan?

Your feedback in these plans is crucial for our teachers to ensure the strategies in place are working for your child. We value your child’s input as well into their plan. As they move through secondary, they will become their own advocate for their learning and support needs.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us 3819 5333.
