Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to school and I trust your Easter holiday was enjoyable and refreshing. I would like to especially welcome a number of new students and their families who have enrolled with us this term and a number of new permanent staff who have commenced with us this term as well. I welcome Ms Jasmine Diesing who is our Head of Department responsible for Flinders House and oversees the subject areas of English, Humanities and Languages. Mary Mahipus has also started with us as a passionate Math specialist teacher and we are pleased to have you both join our college community. A number of pre-service teachers and new teacher aides are also working with us throughout this term and I welcome them to our ever growing college team.
This week we commemorated ANZAC day with a solemn service held in the sports hall (Raptordome). As part of our ANZAC service we unveiled a new memorial/statue in recognition of 100 years of the RAAF. This metal sculpture will be installed over coming weeks in ANZAC Place at the front of our college and we look forward to this being one of many sculptures in this space over coming years. This Sunday, 25th April, all community members are invited to attend the inaugural Dawn service at our college commencing at 5.00am. I thank Central Valley Church for coordinating this service and working with our local community to make what I hope will become an annual event in our local community.
Throughout this year our College has a clear focus on preparing our school for the senior years of schooling, years 10-12. While thoughts of our first year 12 graduates in 2024 may appear far-off, we want to make sure that the decisions we make today prepare our students for tomorrow and life after school. Throughout this term parents and students will be asked for specific feedback on our new senior uniform which will be worn by students in years 10 -12 and also our year 10 subject offerings. This information will be shared with our College community through a range of mediums from parent information sessions, social media, online and P & C meetings. I encourage you to have your say when the opportunity arises and to help shape our great school as we prepare for the future.
Once again, thank you all for being an active member of our school community as we fulfil our school motto of 'Achieving Excellence Together.'
Yours sincerely,
Brendan Krueger
