Semester One Assessment Schedules
Assessment Schedules have been given to students this week. The document outlines all assessment tasks for your student across Semester One for their subjects. It includes information about the subject, task type, draft due dates and final due dates. I encourage you to put these on the fridge at home to ensure you can support your student in managing their time in the assessment period.
The Assessment Schedule is also available electronically via the Daymap Parent Connect Portal. When accessed via Daymap it becomes a live document with embedded hyperlinks that will connect you to the individual assessment task.
If you require further information about assessment, please contact your child's teacher.
Core Curriculum in Years 7 and 8
This year we have made some minor changes to our core curriculum model to further support our students in developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
All students in Year 7 now engage in an English Enrichment program for two lessons per week, and Year 8 students engage in a Maths Enrichment program for two lessons per week. Significant planning has gone into developing programs which will meet the individual needs of all learners in Years 7 and 8 and this will be delivered by our English and Maths teachers.
Humanities and HPE are now studied as Semester-based programs. If your child currently has HPE on their timetable, they will be studying Humanities in Semester 2 (and vice versa).
All students are able to access social sport in the Raptor Dome and Oval at both lunch breaks and can participate in Yagera Gala Day sporting opportunities throughout the year.
We look forward to seeing improved student skills in literacy and numeracy as a result of these changes.
New Families Meet and Greet
Thank you to all families that were able to join us at last Thursday's Meet and Greet. I hope you were able to build connections with your child's teachers and gain further information about their life at our College.
The presentation covered information about homework routines, assessment submission and extensions, how to use Daymap, Schoolzine, My Student Account and Contact Information for your child's House Coordinator, Head of Department and Deputy Principal.
For those families who were unable to attend, information from the presentation is available via the link below. Please contact any of the House Staff via the details in the image below or 3819 5333 if you have any further questions.
