Our amazing Head of Digital Technologies (and everything else!) Mrs Waugh has put together a Student Page for all students to access as their go-to for information and support.

The Student Support Services Committee have also been adding sections to the page to help students know:

• What’s happening around the school
• Information on Student Wellbeing

Recently we have added the Student Toolkit to support students with tips on:

• How they learn
• How to ask for help
• Positive affirmations about learning
• How to use Learning Tools through Microsoft software
• Links for extra support and online tutoring.

Mircrosoft Learning Tools Trial

We are quickly coming to end of Phase 1 of our Trial. Feedback from staff and students have been very positive. For 2021, we are looking at making this technology available in all classes.

Here is some of the feedback we have received:

From the students:

"Its easier to write and its fun."

"that it has a normal voice "

From Staff:

"I feel that using the tools have really supported all students and has placed the focus away from what they can't do to what they can."

"Students are more comfortable sharing their ideas as there is no emphasis on their reading and writing abilities."

Personalised Learning Plans

All students’ Personalised Learning Plans will be sent home at the end of this Term for you to review.

Not all students will have one of these plans, but if your child does, we ask that you read through the strategies and comments with them.

Here are some questions to help guide your review:

• Do you agree with the strategies of support being used in the classroom?
• Does your child feel the support is helpful for them?
• Do you have any suggestions for teachers to consider to better support your child?
• Does your child want to add something to their plan?

Your feedback in these plans are crucial for our teachers to ensure the strategies in place are working for your child. We value your child’s input as well into their plan. As they move through secondary, they will become their own advocate for their learning and support needs.
