Go-Kart in Schools Program – 2025 Race Wrap-Up

This year, Ripley Valley State Secondary College proudly entered two karts into the Go-Kart in Schools competition, thanks to the generous support of Nick and the team at Direct Steel.

Despite facing mechanical and brake issues during the event, our students demonstrated remarkable resilience and problem-solving skills. Our newest Student built Kart achieved a respectable 7th place finish out of 21 competitors, and it proved to be one of the fastest on the track, recording lap times less than two seconds behind the overall winner. Unfortunately, we had to retire our original kart early this year due to mechanical problems, but the experience has only strengthened our determination to return even stronger in 2026.

The day was a steep learning curve for all involved. Students and staff worked side by side to tackle challenges as they arose—replacing chains, rebuilding brakes with basic hand tools, and even carrying out running repairs with nothing more than zip ties and “100-mile-an-hour tape.” These moments captured the true spirit of innovation, teamwork, and resilience.

Mr Philip and Mr Clarke would like to congratulate all students on their outstanding achievements this year. Their dedication, ingenuity, and teamwork were on full display both on and off the track. We look forward to building on this year’s successes and running the program again next year—faster, smarter, and stronger than ever before.
