Mathematics
Welcome back to term 4. I hope everyone had a relaxing time with their family and friends. As we return to the classroom, it's time to reset, refocus and strive for success. Our students will continue to explore mathematical concepts and build on their knowledge and understanding of these concepts.
Year 7 students will explore the concepts of Statistics, Probability and Financial Maths. They will begin by learning how to calculate and interpret the mean and median of data sets and to construct data displays.
Year 8 students will be learning all about Measurement and Geometry this term as they learn how to calculate perimeter, area and volume of shapes and then moving onto triangle properties and congruency.
Year 9 students will also be learning about Measurement and Geometry as they calculate the area, surface area and volume of prisms and cylinders. They will then move onto calculations involving triangles as they learn about Pythagoras theorem, trigonometry and scale factor.
Year 10 students will be learning about algebra, statistic and financial mathematics. Students will be assessed with an exam at the end of term.
Year 11 students in General Maths, Maths Methods and Specialist Maths have begun Unit 3 content. This term they will have an assessment in week 8 to assess their understanding of unit 3 concepts learnt to date.
Our year 12 students have completed all internal assessments and are now revising for the external exam. Students are encouraged to engage with all resources provided by their teachers and available on the QCAA website in order to prepare for the exams. We wish them all the best for the external exams and their future careers.
General notices:
- All students MUST bring a scientific calculator to class every lesson and will require this for the exam.
- Mathematics tutoring is on every Tuesday (1st break) and Thursday (2nd break) in C01. All students are encouraged and welcome to attend.
