Year 7 -

This term students are studying writing by reading and analysing autobiographical and biographical narrative points of view. They will do this through a novel study (Wonder). Students will identify the narrative structure of texts and the language features used to imaginatively recreate a significant life event.

Year 8 -

Throughout this term, students will read, view and listen to a variety of poems that create representations of Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. They analyse the text structure and language and audio and visual features that create these representations and position the audience in relation to specific groups represented. Students will analyse the features that create representations and position the audience; and write an analysis to express their opinion about the text.

Further details regarding assessment requirements is available on Daymap.

1.  Photo Competition - can students guess the teachers from the book they are holding?
2. Book Swap - we will be promoting a Book Swap fundraiser for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. More information to come next week.
3. Don't judge a Book by its Cover - can you guess the blurb just from the cover?
4. Literary Book based Kahoot competition
We will be awarding the winners of each activity (1, 3 and 4) with a $25 book voucher on assembly in week 4 (photos to be posted in our next newsletter!).
