Year 9 PPP:
As a part of Ripley Valley State Secondary College's commitment to student success, all Year 9 students and their parent/carer will participate in a Pathway Preparation Plan (PPP) meeting. This meeting is a critical aspect of the transition into the Senior Phase of Learning. The Pathway Plan is finalised at a compulsory interview held with a member of the College's Leadership Team. At the interview Year 9 students and their parent/carer will have the opportunity to discuss future pathways, study options and career goals for your child's future education.
What an incredible day at Dance Fusion 2025! Our students had the amazing opportunity to immerse themselves in a full day of movement, creativity, and collaboration to finish off Term 1.
Throughout the day, they participated in a variety of high-energy and inspiring workshops with various artists from the industry in the styles of:
- Commercial Contemporary
- Hip Hop
- Commercial Jazz
- Broadway Jazz
Each session challenged them in new ways and helped develop both their technical and expressive skills. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow and their passion for dance shine through!
A huge thank you to the organisers and workshop leaders for such a memorable experience — our students walked away inspired and motivated!
Ignite:
Welcome back to another busy term in Ignite!
Despite the many interruptions with public holidays and student free days, all our students are on track with their new units.
Year 7 have spent Week 1 investigating hydraulic systems and getting hands on with our hydraulic sets on Wednesday. There was some frustration as they were left to explore how the equipment works with no guidance but made some fantastic discoveries!
Year 8 have been working hard playing Uno, Monopoly, Greed, Magic the Gathering, Connect4....but they are actually working! Students are exploring marketing concepts this term and need to deeply understand their product in the lead up to their assessment.
Year 9 are exploring prosthetics this term. Our first lesson involved working through our existing knowledge of prosthetics and prostheses, as well as watching videos around the impacts of and reasons behind the use of prosthetics.
Keep an eye out for opportunities with the upcoming ICAS testing. Details are elsewhere in the newsletter. For further information, please reach out to me on azahn6@eq.edu.au.
Football:
Last term was competition heavy for all Football students and it doesn't look like it's getting any less busy in Term 2. This term, members of Football Academy will be training for and competing in the following competitions:
- QFSL (Football)
- SFL (Futsal)
- FQ Futsal
- ISSA Cup (Football - U14 Only)
We look forward to seeing our teams compete in these respective competitions. See below placings for our Teams currently in the positions.
