Mathematics

Welcome to Term 2! We hope all students had a restful and refreshing break and are ready for an exciting and busy term ahead. This term promises to be full of opportunities for growth and learning in the Mathematics Department as students prepare for both assignments and exams.

Here’s a quick look at what each year group will be focusing on:

        • Year 7: Students will dive into algebra and geometry, building strong foundational skills in both areas.

        • Year 8: The focus will be on statistical concepts, including data collection, graphical representation, and analysis using measures of central tendency.

        • Year 9: Students will explore measurement and geometry, applying their knowledge to real-life contexts.

        • Year 10: The curriculum will cover a variety of topics to help students improve their understanding and apply mathematical concepts in real-world situations.

        • Year 11: Students will continue with Unit 1 content and prepare for an exam in the middle of the term.

        • Year 12: For those studying Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, and General Maths, students have completed Unit 3 assessments and now begin Unit 4 content, with an exam planned at the completion of this unit. Essential Maths students will be preparing for their CIA later this term for Unit 3.

A reminder to all students: please remember to bring a notebook and any other necessary equipment to all maths lessons and actively engage in classroom activities.

We’re committed to providing continued support to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Let’s make Term 2 a term of growth and achievement in mathematics!

        General notices:

        • All students MUST bring a scientific calculator to class every lesson and will require this for the exam.
        • Mathematics tutoring is on every Tuesday (1st break) and Thursday (2nd break) in C01. All students are encouraged and welcome to attend.
