Defence News
At this time of the year, Defence families begin to prepare for the posting cycle. In a few weeks’ time, Defence members will learn where they will be posting to for 2026. Some members may stay in location, but many will be moving to other locations around the state, interstate or overseas.
If you are a Defence family who will be moving out of catchment in 2026, please ensure you contact the College to ensure all appropriate exit documentation is completed before your student leaves RVSSC. The Defence School Mentor can also arrange to connect your child with their new DSM once you know the school they will be enrolling into, to help with their transition.
ANZAC Day Assembly
To commemorate ANZAC Day 2025, RVSSC held its annual ANZAC Day assembly. Readings from Principal Krueger, Mr Paul Rogers (President of the Ipswich RSL Sub-branch) and Chaplain Wayne Ross highlighted the sacrifices that were made by the ANZACs, and in particular the contributions of Indigenous ANZAC's to the Gallipoli and other campaigns during WW1.
In honour of their service, this year the college unveiled our newest silhouette, that of an Indigenous Soldier of the Light Horse regiment.
This week marks the 110th commemoration of the Gallipoli Landings at ANZAC Cove. This year, students, staff and family members have been busy crocheting poppies, which have been collated to create at The Poppy Waterfall. The display honours all ANZACs who were involved in the campaign and pays tribute to their sacrifice in their bid to secure a safe and secure future for future generations.
The Waterfall is a culmination of a great team effort from our college's community.
The Poppy Waterfall is on display in our library. Postcards of Honour will also be available in SSS for students to decorate and write a message of thanks to ADF members, past and present.

If you are a Defence member who will be posting away or deploying for a significant time, or if you are transitioning out of the ADF, could you please let me know. This helps me and the college staff provide appropriate support for your child.
