VET

Welcome to Week 8 of Term 1. It's hard to believe we're nearly a quarter of the way through the school year already with holidays quickly approaching. This year we have had numerous students enrolling into our VET programs on campus and a growing number of students also participating in a number of external programs including WesTEC, TAFE, UQ Skills, UniSQ Headstart, and some new school-based apprentices & trainees. Next term we see our Year 10 two-week Industry Connections Program take place for the first time and host our Annual Careers Expo. We also have a number of exciting incursions and excursions coming up and even more ready for the year ahead and I look forward to sharing more of this information with our families in due time.
I'd also like to congratulate Mr Pavey's Year 12 Certificate III Business class and Miss Hansen's Year 12 Certificate II Retail class on their recent stalls held this term to fundraise for the Year 12 Formal. Please see some further information below from Mr Pavey as well as a Health Hub update from Mrs Robson.
A message from Mr Pavey (Cert III Business)

The Certificate III in Business students recently put their skills to the test by organizing a Valentine’s Day rose sale to raise funds for the upcoming formal. With a combination of pre-orders and on-the-day sales, students had the opportunity to purchase beautiful roses to celebrate the occasion.

The project allowed the business students to gain hands-on experience in sales, marketing, and financial management, all while contributing to a meaningful cause. While they didn’t sell out completely, the fundraiser was still a success, helping them move closer to their formal fundraising goal.

Thank you to everyone who supported the initiative!

A message from Mrs Robson (Health Hub)
The past few weeks have been very busy in the Health Academy. Students have been busy applying for school-based traineeships with West Moreton Health as well as completing a few units in the Certificate II Health Support Services. Students have learnt about WHS practices within health care, working with diverse patients, and even how to make the perfect bed with excellent hospital corners. There is always a buzz in our simulation hospital as students enjoy the hands-on learning part of the course. As always, it is a delight and privilege to teach and empower such young, passionate, students who have a heart and desire to one day work in the Health industry.
