Student Wellbeing - Chaplain and YSC
Welcome back to a new school year It was great to see many new faces and to see for the first time a full school of year 7 to 12 students at the Welcome parade on Monday. We are looking forward to getting to know each new student throughout the year.
For those who don't know us, our names are Alicia Pickerill, Jacob Millerick, Kristian Atkins & Taylah Adsett, and we the school chaplains and youth workers here at the school. We are available throughout the week for appointments so make sure you check your SharePoint to see which days we are here.
Wellbeing Appointments
As a wellbeing team we are here to support the students in any way we can. One of the ways that we provide support is with one-on-one appointment with us. If you would like us to provide support for your child, please get in contact with us via email: studentservices@ripleyvalleyssc.eq.edu.au
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club, one of the extra-curricular programs of the school will start up again on Monday the 3rd of February. Breakfast Club runs every day from 8:15-8:45 am. This is an excellent way for the students to engage with one another over food or milo and doesn't cost them anything. If you want to volunteer for this, please feel free to email me. If your child wants to help out, they can do that by filling out the form that is in the school notices in Daymap.
Wellbeing Programs
As Chaplains and Youth Workers we provide multiple wellbeing programs throughout the term such as RAP, RAGE, Rock & Water, Bella Girls & a boys group. If any of these programs interest you please get in contact with us.
SU Camps
Scripture Union Australia, the organisation that employs the chaplains here in Ripley Valley and in hundreds of schools across the country is also a camping organisation. If you are looking for something for your child to do over the holidays, please follow the following link. https://su.org.au/events/?category=Camp
Chappy Pantry
Last year we introduced the Chappy pantry here at Ripley Valley State Secondary College. It was designed to provide essential food assistance to students who may come to school without lunch, have insufficient lunch, or experience hunger during the school day.
The Chappy pantry has already made an incredible impact and we are excited to continue to grow this initiative. If you want to help and donate food for this, please get in contact with us. We would love your support.
Chaplaincy Committee
The Local Chaplaincy Committee is the supporting and guiding body behind the Chaplaincy Service helping to shape it to meet the wellbeing of the school community here at the College. If this sounds like something you would like to attend, our next meeting on Thursday the 13th of February. Please get in touch if you'd like additional information.
SU Schoolies
Scripture Union Australia also run drug & alcohol-free schoolies events for all of those in year 12 wanting to celebrate finishing their schooling years. There are a few options such as Sunshine Coast, Hawaii & Vanuatu. If this is something that interests you or your child please follow the link below to get more information.
