VET
What a fantastic year we've had with many students succeeding in their pathways. Next week I look forward to attending the WesTEC graduations to celebrate over 40 students who have completed programs in automotive preparations, electrotechnology, retail cosmetics, aviation, justice studies, and more! We've also recently celebrated students that have completed Headstart programs through the University of Southern Queensland and the University of Sunshine Coast. Furthermore, we've also had students finish their school-based apprenticeships & traineeships and even more sign-ups for these happening in these remaining weeks of 2024.
Today I would simply like to thank all of our students for their commitment to their programs, our parents & carers that have encouraged their children to chase their dreams, our community members & training partners for providing opportunities for our students, and of course our Senior Pathways staff that have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support our students & families.
In preparation for 2025, please see reminders below of the following:
- WesTEC Compulsory Information Evenings are coming up on the 18th & 19th November - see email sent to families about which night to attend
- TAFE Applications for 2025 are open - please contact Mrs George for assistance with your applications
- Enrolments to other flexischools & training environments are now open if any student is seeking alternate learning programs. Please reach out to the College if you would like further information or require assistance in getting a referral for your student to any of the facilities listed within RVSSC_Alternative_Pathways_2024.pdf
We've also received information about some new Get Set For Work providers for students interested in leaving school to get some further support ready to enter the workforce. One of these is the YourTown program which is a 12-week initiative that assists students in getting their licence, qualifications including barista short course, RSA & RSG, resume & cover letter assistance, finding employment, and food provided daily whilst in the program, plus more. This initiative open to 15-19 year olds for free but only if they aren't enrolled in a school. Their next in-take begins on 25th November at their six campuses, including their site at Redbank Plains. I will be continuing to investigate more options for students as well but if you have any questions about this or would like assistance referring through, please email through for support.
Similarly for students interested in exiting school, a reminder there are a number of fee-free TAFE qualifications currently available for 2025. Please visit the TAFE website for details https://tafeqld.edu.au/courses/apply-and-enrol/subsidised-training/fee-free
Thank you again to everyone that has supported our students throughout 2024. If you have any questions or would like any support with pathways for your student, please email pathways@ripleyvalleyssc.eq.edu.au
