Deputy Principal - Pathways & Partnerships

    Congratulations Year 12 students

It is with immense pride that I get to write the first graduating message to students of Ripley Valley SSC. While I have had the privilege to work closely with the current students over the last few years, I can't ignore the strong foundations already laid by existing College staff, the amazing leadership of Mrs Prenzler and Mr Krueger and most importantly the support offered by their parents/carers. Your encouragement and guidance have been invaluable in helping our students reach this significant milestone.

This milestone marks not just the end of an era, but the beginning of new adventures and opportunities. As students prepare to step into the next chapter of their lives—be it further education, vocational training, or entering the workforce— I encourage you to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Remember that this is just the beginning! The skills and knowledge you’ve gained will serve as a solid foundation as you pursue your passions and make your mark on the world.

Year 11 Subject Selection Changes for 2023

With exams and assessment finishing for our current year 11 students it is timely for students to review their subject choices and pathways for 2024. If there are any students who would like to update their pathway and wish to change subjects for 2024, please speak with Ms Newton or Mr Robson before 8th November.

While year 11 students have completed their assessment for this term, they are reminded that their learning now shifts to focus on year 12 content in preparation for 2025. These next few weeks are important in helping build a strong foundation for students entering their final year of high school. Over these weeks students will spend time focussing on not only relevant content but also the skills required to help them succeed and improve on the grades they achieved this year.

    USI

Any students undertaking a VET course in 2025 are required to have a USI (Unique Student Identifier). A USI is an individual’s education number for life and creates an online record of your Australian training achievements. Any students who don’t currently have a USI can apply for one at the Australian Governments USI webpage.

    YEAR 10 EXAM BLOCK

With the start of November, we have now only a few short weeks left with our year 10 students before they start their exams and then finish school for the year. Year 10 exam block will be held from Monday 18th to Thursday 21st November.

To help assist students and ensure that the exam block runs smoothly we ask that parents please take note of the following information.

    • Year 10 students are only required to attend school for scheduled exams or VET catch up sessions. Students must arrive at the beginning of the exam session and are to wear correct uniform.
    • When required for a scheduled exam session, students must remain in the designated exam room for the entire scheduled session with their teacher.
    • Year 10 students at school at any time other than an exam session or lunch break, will be working in the designated study classroom. The study room is a supervised room and a roll will be marked each lesson. Student’s expectations are to work quietly and independently.
    • Any VET students with outstanding modules of work will be required to attend VET catch up sessions during the exam block. Students will be required to attend these sessions until all required work is completed.
